This is a staple and classic spot for Brazoria County. A little overpriced if you ask me, but DAMN good still.
Tacos are always great and service is always quick
I’ve been coming to Taco Loco since I was a kid, so this isn’t coming from someone who just stopped in once and decided to complain. I genuinely care about this place, which is why it’s frustrating to see where things are going. Honestly, I never even felt the need to leave a review before because it was just understood this place was five stars. Over the past year especially, the prices have gone up noticeably. Paying over $5 for a taco that’s under six inches just doesn’t feel right, especially when it wasn’t long ago that the same thing was closer to $4. I understand prices go up everywhere, but what makes it harder to accept is that the quality hasn’t improved to match it. If anything, it feels like you’re getting less for more. And to be fair, I could justify paying around $5 for a taco if it was consistently fresh and hot. But a lot of the time it’s not. I’ve ordered fajita, which should be more of a premium item, and ended up with a small taco that’s cold, with cheese that isn’t even melted. That’s the kind of thing that really makes the price hard to accept. This used to be a go-to spot because the value and consistency were there. Lately, it feels like that balance is slipping. I don’t mind paying a bit more if the food reflects it, but right now it just doesn’t. I’m not writing this to tear the place down. I really hope Taco Loco can turn things around, because it has a lot of history and potential. I’ll gladly update this review with a better score if next time I go the tacos are a bit bigger for the price or the quality clearly improves with better ingredients. But as it stands, the price has gotten so high that I can barely justify giving it two stars, and over $5 for a tiny taco just isn’t worth it.
